FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – Aug 25, 2010 – Now, for the first time, Minnesota State Fair goers can experience Bath-On-A-Stick, an artisan crafted bath treat for the Eco bather with a hankering for a fresh and soothing bomb for the body. This fizzing bath confection, also called a bath bomb, is a combination of plant and nut oils swirled together with skin softening household agents such as Baking Soda and Cornstarch mixed with a beneficial essential oil blend and served on a stick. This natural bath treat is made by local artisan bodycare company, Bodylish.

Bodylish is committed to making bodycare that is good for you, and good for the earth. Using all carefully sourced and selected ingredients, Bodylish believes that what you put ON your body is as important as what you put INTO your body thus making bodycare that is good enough to eat. As part of the ever increasing buy local, buy fresh movement, the Bodylish mission supports sustainability making bodycare products to meet the needs of daily family life in a fun, natural way.

Bath-On-A Stick, the bodylish creation for the fair, is an enticing ball of pink and white swirled together artfully with ingredients including Sweet Almond and Jojoba oils, and an aromatic essential oil blend of lemon, rosemary, cinnamon, lavender and sage … making a bomb that is sweet and fresh smelling, and just as delicious to use. Bath-On-A Stick is a delicious treat, leaving a body feeling great and skin tenderly soft.

Bodylish products have long been a favorite for shoppers at the local handmade boutique, i Like You, in Northeast Minneapolis. When the i Like You owners, Angela and Sarah, got a booth at the State Fair, Bodylish was quickly selected as a contributing artisan. The i like you Handmade Market at the Fair will be located in the lower level of the Grand Stand. The market will feature other local handmade stars including Adam Turman, Giraffe, and XO Handworks to name a few. Other Bodylish products at the Fair will include Bath-On-A Stick as well as the Bodylish classic thePEACE bomb, a calendula and jasmine iLikeYou bomb, a shampoo bar called Down To Earth, and a capable and dependable liquid soap, FarmHand.

Jay and Nora Schaper began Bodylish in 1999 by combining Nora’s desire for natural and healthy daily care products with Jay’s entrepreneurial farm experience and zest for business. They have been making and selling their hand crafted soaps, bath products, oils, and creams as they share tips for naturally living and promote good living on their website. Bodylish sells directly to consumers online at Bodylish.com as well as Farmers’ Markets and Craft Fairs.

Nora, Jay and their two boys live in Kingfield, Minneapolis, on their urban farm complete with free roaming chickens and a large vegetable garden. They live as naturally as possible and share their lifestyle tips with the world via the Bodylish blog at www.Bodylish.com and www.posterous.bodylish.com.

Bodylish is an all natural bodycare company located in Minneapolis, Minnesota and run by couple Nora and Jay Schaper. Bodylish has been making hand crafted, artisan quality bodycare for over 10 years.

Fresh Body Care is Good Living

Body care is food for your skin.

Everything you put on your body, the creams, shampoos,  sunscreens, toners, aftershaves and soaps … are all absorbed by the skin and processed through the body.  The skin absorbs the ingredients directly,  without passing through the digestive system thus aborbing more purely than DSC_0595.JPGan item that is eaten.  That is why what you put ON your skin is so important for health and well being.

At bodylish, we have known about this for years. In fact this is the reason we started making bodylish.  Back in the day, when bodylish was born, we couldn’t find daily products that were made naturally with no junky (or harmful) ingredients.  We knew that what you feed your skin is critical to the health and vibrancy of your entire body and how a product is made, packaged, and distributed has a big impact to the earth.

Fresh and natural body care is nutritious for your body and the impact, when made locally, is minimal  to the environment. The crafting of fresh body care products is on the rise.  Natural, sustainable, fresh body care can often be found at the local food coops or farmer’s markets these days.

At bodylish, we offer a fresh, natural, sustainable product all the time. When you CAN get bodylish, all is well …  but we can’t be everywhere. When there is no bodylish in sight, here are some tips to selecting the best fresh body care available.

  • Read the ingredients – It is best if you can pronounce and understand ALL the ingredients listed on the label. For the best quality, everything listed should be natural.  The fewer ingredients the better.
  • Common ingredients to avoid -  We found a great list of ingredients to avoid at the Organic Divas website. It is a list of common  synthetic ingredients that are super bad for you.
  • Store the item properly – Many fresh body care items are made with food based ingredients and may need to be stored in a cool dark place, or even the refrigerator.  Check the label, but just to be safe, keep body care items in a cool dark place until ready to use.  They should also be kept out of direct or extreme heat or cold.
  • Consider the impact – Was this product made sustainably?, does the company have a reputation for fair and responsible business practices?, and how is the product packaged and displayed? … these things should be considered and aligned with your values.

Here at bodylish, we pride ourselves on the quality, freshness, efficacy and environmental impact of our products and business practices. But we don’t just make super delicious bodycare, we’re on a mission to share what we learn as we continue our quest for an all natural, sustainable, happy lifestyle.  Fresh body care is good living!
